Plaza Tire Service, a well-known tire and automotive service provider, has announced a strategic partnership with Sun Auto Tire & Service Inc. This deal, which is anticipated to finalize on December 31, will expand the reach of and enhance Plaza Tire’s growth trajectory.
According to a press release from Plaza Tire Service, this partnership will increase the Sun Auto & Tire Serv network to over 350 locations by incorporating Plaza Tire’s existing stores. Importantly, the Plaza Tire Service name will remain unchanged. Both current and future locations will continue to operate under the established Plaza Tire Service brand.
The owners of Plaza Tire Service, Mark and Scott Rhodes, are investing in Sun Auto & Tire Serv as part of this agreement. Mark Rhodes, Scott Rhodes, and Mark’s son, Sam, will maintain their current roles in the daily operations of Plaza Tire Services, ensuring continuity and expertise. The headquarters, warehouse, and distribution center of Plaza Tire Service will remain in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, reinforcing the company’s commitment to its roots.
The announcement also emphasized that this partnership will not result in any workforce reduction. This decision underscores the commitment to stability and growth for both organizations.
“We were not actively seeking a buyer,” stated Mark Rhodes, President of Plaza Tire Service. “However, after Sun Auto & Tire Serv approached us and we learned about their vision, their operational approach, and their successful acquisition history, we recognized the potential benefits for Plaza Tire Service. We are enthusiastic about embarking on this exciting new chapter.”
