Identifying Your SQL Server Version
Before diving into the detailed chart, you might need a quick way to identify the SQL Server version you are currently running. Here are a few common methods:
-
Using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS): Connect to your SQL Server instance using SSMS. Right-click on the server instance in Object Explorer, and select “Properties”. In the Server Properties window, look for the “Version” field. This will display the full version information, including the build number.
-
Using Transact-SQL (T-SQL): Open a new query window in SSMS or any SQL client and execute the following query:
SELECT @@VERSION
This query will return a string containing detailed version information about your SQL Server instance.
-
Using SQL Server Configuration Manager: Open SQL Server Configuration Manager. In the left pane, select “SQL Server Services”. In the right pane, locate your SQL Server instance. The “Version” column may display the version, or you can right-click the service, select “Properties”, and find the version information on the “Service” tab.
These methods will help you determine your SQL Server version and then use the chart below for more detailed information.
