Surprise! Rudy Giuliani Served Indictment Papers at 80th Birthday Bash

In a dramatic turn of events, Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor, experienced a birthday surprise he likely wasn’t expecting. Just as he was celebrating his upcoming 80th birthday in Palm Beach, Florida, process servers arrived to deliver the notice of his indictment in connection with the alleged conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election results in Arizona. Arizona’s Democratic Attorney General Kris Mayes officially announced the serving, adding a layer of irony to Giuliani’s celebratory occasion.

The serving occurred shortly after Giuliani himself seemed to challenge Arizona authorities online. In a now-deleted social media post on X, Giuliani appeared to taunt Attorney General Mayes, suggesting that if authorities couldn’t locate him by the next morning, the indictment should be dismissed, and they should concede their inability to count votes. The post included a picture of a smiling Giuliani surrounded by people and birthday balloons, inadvertently pinpointing his location.

Attorney General Mayes responded to Giuliani’s public challenge swiftly. Just over an hour after his post, Mayes announced on X, “The final defendant was served moments ago. @RudyGiuliani, nobody is above the law.” This confirmed that Giuliani was indeed served right in the middle of his early birthday celebration, turning a personal milestone into a moment of legal reckoning.

Giuliani’s 80th birthday is officially on May 28th, and the Palm Beach event, hosted by Caroline Wren, an advisor to Arizona U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake, was an early commemoration. What was intended as a joyous evening surrounded by well-wishers took an unexpected turn when the legal notice was delivered.

According to Ted Goodman, Giuliani’s spokesperson, the former mayor remained unfazed by the situation. Goodman stated to NBC News that Giuliani “enjoyed an incredible evening with hundreds of people who love him — from all walks of life — and we look forward to full vindication soon.” He downplayed the serving as an attempt to embarrass Giuliani during his birthday celebration.

While Giuliani faces these new charges, other individuals involved in the Arizona “fake electors” case are already navigating their legal paths. Earlier on Friday, former Trump attorney John Eastman entered a not guilty plea to charges related to the same alleged conspiracy. Eleven other defendants are scheduled for arraignment the following Tuesday.

This Arizona case is not the only legal trouble Giuliani is currently facing related to the aftermath of the 2020 election. In December 2023, he was ordered to pay a staggering $148 million verdict for defaming two Georgia election workers. The indictment served at his birthday party adds another layer to the mounting legal challenges surrounding Rudy Giuliani and his actions following the 2020 election.
