Sincere gratitude is extended to everyone who has contributed feedback, ideas, bug reports, translations, media, and unwavering moral support. The OGS team is dedicated to reciprocating this support by continuously improving the site and fostering the growth of the Go community worldwide.
A Note to Existing Users
To Online-Go.com users: Welcome to the next generation of OGS! This merger marks the third major iteration of the server software, a testament to OGS’s enduring presence in the online Go world. The new development team (matburt and anoek) is honored to continue this legacy. Rest assured, every effort has been made to preserve your game history, active games, forum posts, and tournament data. Your OGS history remains intact. For any questions, concerns, or feedback, please join the Chat – the developers and members of the Nova.gs community are ready to assist. Bug reports can be submitted via the Help menu.
To Nova.gs users: Welcome to a vibrant influx of new players from OGS! With this update, enjoy the highly anticipated arrival of a larger player base, alongside site-wide ladders, forums, and title tournaments. Please extend a warm welcome to the OGS players, help them navigate the new environment, and enjoy the abundance of new games and interactions!
We sincerely apologize for the unexpected nature of this merger. Due to technical necessities, maintaining secrecy was crucial. We hope you view this surprise as a positive leap forward for the OGS Go Server and the wider Go community.
Unfortunately, during the migration, a database backup issue resulted in the loss of approximately 24 hours of data from October 18, 2013. While this is regrettable, we ask for your understanding and forgiveness. Despite this hiccup, we are confident that the enhanced OGS Go Server will provide an exceptional experience, filled with new features and functionality.
Please note that active challenges were not migrated and need to be re-initiated. To prevent timeouts due to the merge, active games with 1-day move times have been extended to 2 days, and all game clocks have been maximized. Games in the stone removal phase will utilize the new system for stone agreement.
