Experiencing crashes on your Minecraft 1.20.1 server when using the ModernFix mod? You’re not alone. This report details recent server instability issues encountered specifically when running ModernFix on a Fabric 1.20.1 server environment. After a week of repeated crashes and extensive troubleshooting, removing ModernFix appears to be the only resolution discovered so far.
The server in question experienced numerous crashes, and while various error messages appeared in crash reports and logs, they exhibited enough similarity to suggest a single underlying cause. Testing across multiple versions of ModernFix for Fabric 1.20.1, including versions 5.19.0, 5.18.10, 5.18.6, and 5.18.0, all resulted in the same crashing behavior. It was only upon the complete removal of ModernFix from the server modpack that the crashes ceased during testing.
Reproducing the exact crash trigger has proven challenging. The initial repeatable instance identified involved a player placing a row of soul sand within their base. While crashes were observed during this action, and a world backup was used for isolating the problem, the precise mechanism causing the crashes remains elusive. Despite the lack of a definitive reproduction method, removing ModernFix eliminated the crashes in this specific test case and, crucially, the server has remained stable for over 12 hours since its removal from the main server. This period of stability strongly suggests ModernFix’s involvement in the crashes.
To aid in further investigation and potential resolution, a collection of 32 crash reports generated over the past week has been compiled and provided. These reports represent the data collected during the period of server instability and are believed to be related to this ModernFix issue. Further community input or developer insight is welcomed to understand and address this potential incompatibility or bug within ModernFix on Minecraft 1.20.1 servers.
