Caring for Your Corelle® Large Serving Bowls: Ensuring Longevity and Beauty

Corelle® dinnerware, including their versatile Large Serving Bowls, are crafted from unique Vitrelle® glass, renowned for its durability and lightweight design. Mugs may be porcelain or stoneware, as indicated on packaging. Always check the bottom of your items for specific material information before use. Understanding proper use and care is crucial to maintaining the beauty and extending the life of your Corelle® large serving bowls. This guide provides essential instructions to help you enjoy your dinnerware for years to come.

Corelle® large serving bowls made from Vitrelle® are designed for both serving food and reheating meals. They are safe for use in microwaves and pre-heated conventional ovens up to 350°F (176°C). If you wish to warm your empty serving bowls before placing food, utilize a pre-heated conventional oven. Porcelain and stoneware mugs are also microwave-safe.

It is important to remember that ALL GLASS, PORCELAIN, AND STONEWARE CAN BREAK. Handle your Corelle® large serving bowls with care. Impact from dropping or bumping against hard surfaces can cause immediate breakage or create unseen damage that leads to later breakage. Breakage can be sudden, potentially noisy, and result in sharp, small pieces. Exercise caution when handling broken pieces.

Cleaning your Corelle® large serving bowls is simple. You can wash them by hand or in an automatic dishwasher. When loading into a dishwasher, ensure items are spaced to prevent bumping during the wash cycle. To remove any gray marks or rust stains, use a non-abrasive cleanser. For tougher cleaning, use plastic or nylon cleaning pads along with a non-abrasive cleanser. Avoid prolonged soaking of stoneware or porcelain mugs in water, as subsequent heating might cause glaze cracking.

Important Warnings for Safe Usage:

Ignoring these warnings may lead to breakage or shattering, potentially causing personal injury or property damage. Corelle® Vitrelle® dinnerware is designed exclusively for normal household use and is not intended for camping, industrial, or commercial applications.

  • No Direct Heat Sources: DO NOT use Corelle® large serving bowls on a stovetop, under a broiler/griller, under a microwave browning element, in a toaster oven, or near any direct heat sources like range heat vents, pilot lights, or open flames.

  • Avoid Sudden Temperature Changes: Sudden temperature shifts can cause breakage. DO NOT add liquid to a hot bowl, place a hot bowl on a wet surface, or handle with a wet or cold cloth. Always use a dry cloth or potholder when handling hot bowls.

  • Microwave Usage Restrictions:

    • DO NOT use for microwave popcorn or to hold popcorn bags, or microwave convenience foods with special browning wrappers. These can overheat and cause breakage.
    • DO NOT microwave an empty bowl; it can overheat, crack, or break.
    • DO NOT heat small food portions in a large serving bowl in the microwave as it can also lead to overheating and breakage.
    • DO NOT overheat oil or butter in the microwave. Use minimal heating times.
  • Inspect Before Use: DO NOT use or attempt to repair any Corelle® item that is chipped, cracked, or severely scratched. Damaged items are weakened and may break or shatter unexpectedly.

  • Handle with Care: DO NOT abuse your bowls by dropping them or hitting them against hard objects.

  • Gentle Cleaning: DO NOT use abrasive cleansers, scouring pads, or any abrasive objects that can scratch the surface of your serving bowls.

  • Protect Surfaces: Place stoneware items on a dry placemat or tablecloth to prevent scratching furniture surfaces, as stoneware bottoms may be rough.

Discontinue use immediately if any Corelle® item has been misused as described above, as damaged items can break without warning. By following these care and usage instructions, you can ensure the lasting beauty and performance of your Corelle® large serving bowls, making them a reliable and elegant addition to your dining experience for years to come.
